AGM 2011: President’s Address

The Italian Greyhound Club AGM was held on Saturday, 19 March 2011. Club President, Shirley Vincent, unfortunately was taken ill and had to send apologies but sent in her President’s address which is posted below:

“I’m so sorry that I am unable to be with you today.

I’d like to thank the current Committee for their hard work and the treasurer for keeping the books in such good order.  Also our Acting Secretary who is learning fast.

I must also thank Russell Hodges for his work on the committee and for being Show Secretary. Simon Bulpin has done sterling work as Show Manager even with his very difficult travel restrictions.

The Centenary Book Update was well received last year thanks to Annette Oliver’s many hours of work.

Enormous thanks to Linnet Loh for her invaluable assistance with the printing and distributing of the Bulletin over the years and cup stewarding. Jimmi Johnson-White has taken over the cup steward’s duties, much to Linnets delight and deserves our thanks for that and even more for his years as News Bulletin Editor.

Jimmi handed over the compiling and publishing of the Bulletin to Jan Doherty who might have regretted taking it on when all her carefully laid plans for her first edition went wrong in December, However, it was a very nice Bulletin which was gratefully received.  So many thanks to Jan.

Discover Dogs is a responsibility for us all now and many owners and their dogs spend  much time and effort, at Crufts and Earls Court, to make the public aware of the delights and pitfalls of this lovely breed.  So many thanks to them..

I hope the show goes well today and you all have a pleasant afternoon.

I look forward to the rest of the year when I hope the Italian Greyhound Club succeeds in all its endeavours and the members have really enjoyable meetings at our shows and the Fun Day.”

President, The Italian Greyhound Club
